Luke 22:7-23 - Passover

Jesus celebrates the Passover with the apostles. The meaning of the Passover is redefined as Jesus changes things as a new covenant is imminent.

Jesus uses a parable of a fig tree blossoming to explain the importance of being ready. He gives a warning against distraction and an exhortation to pray and ask to be counted worthy to escape the times.

Jesus explains the signs that will be present before the Second Coming. 

Luke 21:10-19 - Signs of the Times

Jesus speaks a prophecy that will apply to both the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple in 70 AD as well as the Second Coming. 

Luke 21:5-9 - Temple Destruction

Jesus prophesies the destruction of the temple which would not take place for roughly another 40 years. These verses are debated regarding the dating of the gospels.  

Luke 21:1-4 - Two Mites

Jesus sees many people giving extravagant gifts and taking pride in their offering. He sees a poor widow who offers just two mites. It is a small amount, but it is everything she has. 

Luke 20:41-47 - The Lord Said to My Lord

Jesus answers another question. He is asked how He can be both the Son of David as well as his Lord. Jesus answers with a quote from Psalm 110. 

Luke 20:27-40 - More Questions

The Sadducees sought to trick Jesus with yet another question. This time they asked Jesus a convoluted question about the Resurrection and woman with many different husbands. 

Luke 20:20-26 - Render to Caesar

The Pharisees sought to entrap Jesus with a trick question. The question was specifically designed so that no matter what answer Jesus gave, the answer would anger people.
